Jaipur City to host jewellery show from Aug 28

This year, the Jewellers Association Show-2008 (JAS-08), is conceived to bring forth Jaipur’s edge in gemstone and gemstone jewellery through a theme ‘A Legacy on Colours’, to the world. The show is scheduled to begin on 28 August 2008, with Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje performing the inauguration at Birla Auditorium. To grace the event as guests of honour will be Minister of Industries Dr. Digambar Singh, Public Grievances Committee chairman S.N. Gupta and Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council chairman Sanjay Kothari.

The organisers, Jaipur Jewellers Association have made an effort to deliver an expansive variety of gemstones and gemstone manufacturers, especially from Jaipur, the Pink city also known for its leadership in gemstones. Seven halls have been set up across 1.5 lakh sq.ft., housing 273 booths. The halls have been divided according to the varied genres of gemstones Diamond Hall, Tanzanite Hall, Emerald Hall, Rubellite Hall, Topaz Hall, Grand Hall and Tucson Hall, the latter being the new addition this year to promote the art and sale of coloured gemstone jewellery and colour gemstones. The jewellery portfolio is expected to include gold and silver jewellery, Jaipur’s famous Kundan Meena jewellery and more. Around 2800 members are expected to participate.

Kirtilals wins 'Diamond Vivaha Jewellery Award-2008'

Rajiv Mehta, CEO of Dimexon Group and Prasad Kapre, Business Director, De Beers Group Marketing inaugurated the awards ceremony.



The event was hosted by Aly Khan and models like Aditi Gowitrikar, Gauhar Khan, Tejaswini Kolhapure were amongst the 50 other models who dazzled with various jewellery on stage. Eminent people including ace Fashion Designer Rohit Bal comprised the jury for the awards.

Every year the award is given to the retailers, brand owners, manufacturers and designers who make this industry an amazing place to be. The 4th Retail Jeweller India Awards 2008 had been designed to inspire creative wealth of design craftsmanship. The award was segmented into eight categories with a total of 25 awards.

The award 2008 invited more than 300,000 retailers of jewellery, 10,000 jewellery manufacturers/brand owners and top 10 design schools from across the country.
